Welcome to the Active Quarter website. It brings together all the people, places, and organisations that are making the Active Quarter a reality – and you can help!

What is the Active Quarter?
Northampton has lots of great outdoor spaces, and the Active Quarter partnership was formed to help make enjoying these spaces even easier. The partnership is a collection of businesses, organisations, and local people – all working together to improve opportunities for health, active travel, economic growth, education, and pride in Northamptonshire.
The Active Quarter goes from Far Cotton in the east of Northampton, to the large Brackmills Industrial estate in the west; from the new Northampton Mountain Bike Park at Hardingstone in the south, northwards toward the town and the beautiful Becket’s Park.
What has happened already?
Prior to launching this website, lots of exciting work has taken place across the Active Quarter. The award-winning Northampton Bike Park was opened; wheelchair accessible platforms around the water-skiing lake have been constructed; and footpaths and signage between Delapré Abbey and the lake have been improved. Regular Pilates, yoga and wellbeing sessions have begun at Delapré Abbey – in addition to an exciting programme of events like the Winter Lights Trail and an annual 5k fun run.

The Active Quarter is only at the beginning of its journey. And we need your help to take this work even further. We’re looking for organisations, community groups, and local residents to get involved in improving our local spaces.
