A new YouTube channel from British Cycling is inviting residents to discover cycling routes across West Northamptonshire.

Launched by British Cycling, a new YouTube channel has be created to encourage both seasoned and would-be cyclists across the region. The videos highlight cycle routes and guide users through them – so it’s perfect for anybody looking to explore the local area.
The channel is part of a partnership between West Northamptonshire Council and British Cycling to support more people as they get out and about by bike. Local clubs, volunteers, schools, workplaces, and community groups are all contributing to the partnership. The aim is to help make cycling an everyday, accessible activity for as many people as possible.
Cllr James Petter, Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure at West Northamptonshire Council, said:
”“This new YouTube channel is a great way to showcase what’s on our doorstep and encourage more people to get out and explore by bike. Whether you’re a regular rider or just getting started, it shows how enjoyable and accessible cycling can be for everyone.”

Alongside the videos, a programme of free guided rides is available through British Cycling’s Let’s Ride initiative, a new junior cycling club is about to launch at Delapré Abbey, and Bike Week 2026 will also provide lots of opportunities to join in.
So there are plenty of ways to support the partnership, both as a cyclist and as a volunteer. All this continues the fantastic work from organisations, community groups, and local people across Northampton to make it a great place for getting active outdoors.
If you’d like to join in, email davidwatson@britishcycling.org.uk to help organise or lead rides; register your interest to help lead junior cycling sessions; or start browsing the YouTube channel. When you’re done, there’s plenty of other outdoor activities and community programmes to explore on the Active Quarter website too.
