National Cycle Routes 536, 6, and 539 run through the Active Quarter. This traffic-free route connects local residents to the town centre and surrounding green space.

Route 536 takes an off-road path along a picturesque area of the River Nene. It starts from National Route 6 at Becket’s Park and joins Upton to the west of the town centre. Meanwhile, Route 6 travels along the River Nene to Brackmills Industrial Estate, where it intersects with Route 539 before continuing on to Great Houghton.

These paths have links off to Nene Valley Retail Park, Sixfields Leisure Park, Briar Hill and Norbital – an 18-mile circular cycle route around Northampton.
