Green Spaces Semilong is a community initiative, formed by residents in response to the fly tipping and deterioration of Semilong. Volunteers are building a community garden next to the basketball courts at the end of Semilong Road (in front of a little park). The land was an empty space, filled with litter, the walls covered in graffitied. Volunteers have worked hard to transform the space: litter picking, digging a path, creating lanterns, painting, and planting.
The garden will be split into eight themed section, divided by arches. Semilong Green Spaces aims to implement a vibrant, sustainable, sensory urban garden, strengthening the wellbeing of the community, provide a safe nurturing space and increasing wildlife. Semilong Green Spaces will:
It is free to join in. You don’t need to register, just come along.
A group of volunteers meet every Friday (2.00 pm – 4.00 pm) to work on the space, swap skills and create the garden.
Wear sensible clothing and closed shoes.
